Keycaps
3D printed keycaps for MX switches
Twelve keycaps and key sets that fit a standard MX stem — the absurd end of your keyboard, printed rather than injection moulded.
Will it fit my keyboard?
Every keycap here uses a standard Cherry MX cross stem, which is also what Gateron, Kailh, Outemu and most other mechanical switches use. If you can pull a keycap off your board and see a cross, these will fit.
They will not fit low-profile switches (Kailh Choc), Topre, or laptop keyboards. The stem is the only compatibility question that matters — the shape above it is decoration.
What is in the range
Single keys are the sweets and animals: a cat paw with four pads, a cupcake, a burger, a chocolate bar with real segments, a bento box with a lid that lifts off. Nine-key sets are the ones that replace a whole row — a strawberry patch, a blueberry grid, a tray of tomatoes.
The nine-key sets are printed as one plate with nine caps on it, then snapped apart and cleaned. That is why a set of nine costs less than nine singles.
Heat, wear and cleaning
PLA softens around 60 °C. That is fine for a desk, and not fine for a car in summer or next to a laptop exhaust vent. Keep the keyboard out of direct sun and the caps will hold their shape indefinitely.
Clean with a dry brush or a barely damp cloth. Solvents and dishwashers will dull the surface. The legends are not printed on — the shape itself is the design — so there is nothing to rub off.
Keycaps: common questions
Are these compatible with Cherry MX?
Yes, and with Gateron, Kailh, Outemu and other MX-style switches. They do not fit low-profile Choc switches, Topre, or laptop keyboards.
Will a keycap interfere with the key next to it?
On a standard 19.05 mm pitch, the sculpted caps fit. Very tall designs are best used on the top row or on keys you rarely press, which we note on the product page.
Do they wear out?
The stem is the part under load. Printed in PLA at 100% infill in the stem area, it holds up to normal typing; heavy daily use will loosen it over a year or two.
Can I put them in a dishwasher?
No. Dishwasher temperatures are above the point where PLA deforms. Wipe with a damp cloth instead.
