Orb dragons

Orb dragons: a dragon curled into a ball

Thirteen designs with one idea behind them: a dragon small enough to hold in a palm, curled so tightly that the body becomes the shape.

The design constraint that makes them work

An orb dragon is a spiral. The body starts at the tail, coils inward, and the head comes to rest against the chest — and every segment between is a hinge. Curl it tighter and the whole thing closes; pull the tail and it unwinds into a short dragon.

That is only possible as a single print. Any assembly would need a seam somewhere on the spiral, and a seam on a spiral is exactly where it would come apart.

What the thirteen designs are

Most of the range exists because a specific occasion needed a dragon: a cake dragon with a candle, a pumpkin dragon for October, a graduation dragon in a cap, a Christmas tree dragon, a reindeer. The rest are animals and sports — football, basketball, tennis, volleyball, rugby.

They share a body and differ in the details, which keeps the price low: a themed orb dragon costs the same as a plain one.

Good first purchase, good gift

Orbs are the smallest and cheapest thing we make, which makes them the low-risk way to find out whether you like the material and the movement. They are also the easiest to give away: a sealed ball that unfolds in someone’s hand does most of the explaining itself.

If you want several, the nine-piece orb bundle costs less than buying them individually and ships as one box.

Orb dragons: common questions

What is an orb dragon?

A dragon printed as a tight spiral so that, at rest, the body forms a ball with the head tucked against the chest. Pull the tail and it unwinds into a short articulated dragon.

How big is one?

Small enough to sit in the palm — roughly 4–5 cm across when curled. The exact measurement is listed on each product page.

Does it actually move?

Yes. Every segment is a printed hinge with real clearance. The coil opens and closes smoothly from the first day.

Can I choose the colours?

Each design is printed in a fixed colourway shown in the photos. For a specific combination, message us before ordering — we can usually do it, but it adds a day to production.
